CITY OF INDIO: 2021 Southwest Arts Festival Indio Cancelled

Cancelconcert

City Of Indio issued the following announcement on Jan. 2

Due to the unprecedented health and safety concerns brought on by the COVID-19 crises and restrictions put in place by the State of California, the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced the cancelation of the 2021 Southwest Arts Festival Indio. The show was scheduled to be held next month, January 28th though January 31st, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA. The show would have celebrated its 35th year.

Joshua Bonner, President and CEO of the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce, expressed the effort put forth to try and safely hold the show. “We continued to explore options right up to the point a final decision was required, but after considering where we currently stand as a County with positivity and hospitalization rates, as well as the current data trends and restrictions put in place by the State, we did not feel there was a viable path to hold the show. That decision was reached with input from our partners, as well as safety and health professionals from the City and County. We would like to thank the management at Empire Polo Club and all our partners who have worked closely with us over these last few months to try and hold the show.”

The Southwest Arts Festival Indio is scheduled to return in January of 2022. Though it is possible the show could be rescheduled for later in 2021, there are no current plans to do so.
