Assemblymember Greg Wallis has announced the allocation of over $34 million from a state funding pool to address homelessness in Assembly District 47. The funds are part of a larger $131 million initiative aimed at clearing homeless encampments and addressing the homelessness crisis in several areas, including Palm Springs, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and the City of Redlands.

The grants are distributed as follows: $5.1 million for Palm Springs, $5.3 million for the City of Redlands, $12.6 million for Riverside County, and $11 million for San Bernardino County. These resources will be used to connect individuals experiencing homelessness with shelter and essential services while also working to restore public spaces.

“This funding is vital for our communities,” said Assemblymember Greg Wallis. “I’ve been fighting for support like this in Sacramento with help from our cities and counties because where we’re from, we believe in helping our most vulnerable neighbors. We’re making real progress in getting people off the streets and into stable housing.”

Wallis highlighted that stronger accountability measures accompany this funding to ensure local governments effectively utilize these resources and adhere to state housing laws.
