Rep. Ken Calvert, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 41st District since 1993, recently shared his views on public protests and law enforcement via social media. Born in Corona, California in 1953, Calvert has a background in political science from San Diego State University.

On June 7, 2025, Rep. Calvert emphasized the importance of peaceful expression by stating that while Americans have the right to express their opinions peacefully, they do not have the right to engage in violent acts against law enforcement or damage property. “Americans have a right to peacefully express their opinions. They do NOT have a right to assault law enforcement, interfere with law enforcement, or damage property.”

The following day, on June 8, 2025, he expressed gratitude for the response of the California National Guard (@TheCalGuard) in maintaining safety and order during protests. He reiterated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is performing its duties according to federal laws regardless of public opinion. “I’m thankful for the response of @TheCalGuard to keep people safe, restore order, and protect our federal law enforcement officers carrying out their responsibilities. Whether you agree or not, the fact remains that ICE is carrying out its duties in accordance with federal laws.”

Later on June 8th, Calvert questioned claims by California Democrat leaders regarding the peaceful nature of recent protests by suggesting observers judge for themselves based on available information. “California Democrat leaders said yesterday’s protests were peaceful. Judge for yourself.”

Ken Calvert continues to reside in his hometown of Corona.
