City of Indio issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.
After more than six weeks of presenting and working through ideas at both in-person and virtual workshops, a master plan concept for a new Sports Park in Indio is ready for the next phase of review.
This master plan concept will convey what could be built if a state grant is awarded to the City of Indio for a Sports Park on a 39-acre parcel of City-owned land between Jackson St., Ave. 44 and Market St.
Throughout the input process, dozens of residents made recommendations, took part in hands-on mapping activities, and provided feedback on multiple renderings of a Sports Park. Some of the most suggested ideas included open field space for organized sports, shade structures and public art.
At 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 17, the master plan will be presented to the Community Services Commission, and at 5:00 p.m. on Dec. 16, the master plan will be presented to Indio’s City Council, for consideration to submit the grant application on March 12, 2021.
To see iterations of the Sports Park and watch virtual workshops about the plan, go to the Sports Park Facebook page.
The final plan to be presented to the state for consideration will also be made available on the City’s website, www.indio.org
