Assemblymember Greg Wallis, along with Assembly Minority Leader James Gallagher and Assemblyman Joe Patterson, has introduced a bill to counteract the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) recent decision on the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS). The proposed legislation aims to nullify CARB's vote due to concerns raised by the Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) about potential cost increases for California residents.

Wallis expressed his concern about the economic impact of the policy. "At a time when families are struggling to keep the lights on and put food on the table, California cannot afford to gamble on risky policies pushed by unelected bureaucrats," he stated. He emphasized that their legislation is intended to prioritize economic compassion and hold policies affecting millions of Californians accountable.

The LAO's analysis indicates that the LCFS could lead to increased energy and transportation costs. In response, this legislative initiative seeks to shield Californians from these financial pressures while ensuring that CARB remains responsible for its policy decisions.
