City of Indian Wells issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.
The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources is taking its annual RivCo Recycles Day celebration online in 2020, with the free RivCo Recycles Community Summit. This three-day, virtual discussion takes place on Nov. 17-19, and will cater to businesses, residents, and educators/students.
This interactive webinar will devote specific days to business, residential, and educational tracks. Attendees can sign up for the track that best fits their interests or needs and learn all about resources relating to those topics. The event will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on each of the days, and will feature conversations with industry professionals, live demonstrations, and plenty of information about recycling.
The summit will kick off Nov. 17 with a business track designed to inform Riverside County proprietors and managers about all of the tools available to expand their recycling practices and comply with legislation. Topics include: food rescue, statewide recycling regulations, and food waste reduction.
Nov. 18 will turn the focus from businesses to residents, as material will shift away from the workplace and into the home. Topics include: mattress recycling, household hazardous waste management, and a green cleaning demonstration.
The summit will conclude on Nov. 19 with information designed for both educators and students. Teachers will learn tips and tricks about incorporating recycling into lesson plans, while high school and college students will learn about green careers. Topics include: starting a school garden, sustainability efforts at UC Riverside, and green job information.
