Palm Springs Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.
No DUI arrests were made during the DUI checkpoint held on Dec 11, 2020; however, 9 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license. Additionally, 1 driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and 1 passenger was arrested for outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Overall, 469 vehicles were screened during the checkpoint.
The checkpoint was held in the 2300 block of E. Ramon Rd. from 6:30 pm to12:00 am.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
As the state continues to work to stop the spread of COVID-19, the Palm Springs Police Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling.
