President Donald Trump said he would prioritize "American citizens first" during his administration. This declaration was made at a campaign rally in Coachella on October 12.

"Under the Trump administration, we will put American CITIZENS first, American CHILDREN first, American PATIENTS first, American TAXPAYERS first, American WORKERS first, and American COMMUNITIES first," said Trump, Candidate For President of the United States. "But we will put Communists, Marxists, and Fascists last."

"America First" is a political slogan associated with the Trump movement, focusing on U.S. national interests in foreign policy, trade, and diplomacy. It supports decisions based on national interest rather than interventionism or isolationism.

According to Politico, former President Trump referred to Vice President Kamala Harris' proposed federal ban on price gouging for groceries as "communism." Harris’ proposal aims to expand the government's role in regulating prices, a move that some economists oppose. Similar laws have been enforced by GOP state officials, particularly during crises like the pandemic.

The "Buy American and Hire American" executive order, signed by Trump on April 18, 2017, aimed to protect U.S. workers by enforcing immigration laws and promoting policies prioritizing American-made goods and labor. The order instructed federal agencies to review and tighten employment-based immigration programs, including H-1B visas, to prevent fraud and abuse while ensuring that U.S. workers are not disadvantaged by the hiring of foreign labor. It also promoted the use of American-made products in federal contracts and projects.
